Hi All,
This will be my build thread for the campaign.
My kit is the Monogram, 1/48 F-100, Super Sabre.
I did think about re-scribing the panel lines, as they are all raised, but upon taking a closer look, i realised that there are loads of panel lines, access hatches and rivets and quite frankly I really don't want to undertake such a massive task.
I did look at loads of aftermarket stuff for this kit, but i feel it would be a waste if i wasn't re-scribing it, IMHO. Probably will build another in the future, and add all sorts of goodies to it.
The detail is pretty good in the wheel wells. The gun-bay is fairly detailed so the access panel will be removed. The cockpit detail isn't great, but I shall see what I can do with it.
As I can't seem to find any decals for this camo scheme (which I believe is S.A.C standard camo), all the markings will have to be done myself.
Hopefully it will look like this :-) .

How did I guess you would use the campaign as an excuse to build a Sabre Andy???
The first build thread is underway!
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the rescribing

Good choice of camouflage scheme.
Going to be a bit though with the decals even though you might be able to use national markings, letters and numbers from other kits.
Know what you mean about the after market items. Sometimes it just seems a little crazy to use triple or four times the kit's price on after market items. Other times it does not
It is going to be a lovely bird. Looking forward to see more

As I only paid about £8 for the kit, the A.M parts would have at least quadrupled its value.
Anyway, some progress has been made.
The cockpit and 20mm port gun bay are finished.
The cockpit came out a lot better then I thought it would.
I did some dry-brushing and a couple of washes to pick the detail out.
Who needs aftermarket parts :-) .

Your wish is my command .
Close ups of the cockpit, wheel wells and gun bays.
It still looks a bit glossy in places as the dull coat hasn't fully dried yet. I will probably hit it with another coat at some point.

Hi Andy!
I quite agree! Looks really good from the box! Let's say it's because the modeller is good!

Looks great!! I hope my cockpit for my Phantom will turn out just as good. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys.
I am quite surprised with the amount of detail you get in the kit, it really does make life easier knowing you haven't really got to add anything.
The main parts are now together, and the fit is pretty bad in places. The fuselage goes together in a top/bottom configuration, and the intake and exhaust glued onto either end. The black lines are the areas that need filling and sanding.
Oh how I hate doing seams :-) .
Andy
P.S This is really quite a big kit. It is about 2 inches longer then the Dog Sabre.

After a couple of days sanding and filling, I have finally got the paint on.
Tamiya paints sprayed free hand for the SAC camouflage scheme. I still have to paint the metallic parts and the jet exhaust.
The kit has also been Kleared ready for the decals, that I still haven't figured out to do yet :-) .

Thanks guys.
Well the Sabre itself is finished. I just need to add the bomb load, which will be later in the week.
Here is a couple or three pics. Hopefully I will be able to take some better ones once the weather clears up a bit ( windy and rainy ).

Wow!! that is great work - and fast!
When you added the bombs and it is completely finished, remember to post 1-3 pictures in the official Vietnam campaign tread to show the finished aircraft.
It looks like you will be the first to complete a aircraft for the campaign
