:-) Hello everybody, could any one tell me if the Spirit of St louis flown by Charles Lindburg was a fabric covered aircraft or was it metal, I am scratch building one and I can not seem to find much Technical detail about the plane!

I might say that is was made out of wood, it looks like that, but near the engine it is metal. Probably so it wouldn't start on fire right? I don't know, but I hope that this helps!

Good pics on that second link Chip.

Shinano, The flight surfaces look fabric covered, but I can't tell on the fuselage. I want to say it's a metal covered frame, but I'm just not sure. It's definately metal from the front of the cockpit forward.
