As my previous post of my entry for "Finished Guardian Angel" campaign, has disappeared I don't want to miss out on my award ribbon /badge, so here it is again !

Here is some background to the fullsize rescue operations of Rega Switzerland.

In the event of an accident or serious illness in Switzerland, anyone can ask Rega for assistance at any time of the day or night by calling its emergency number 1414 (within Switzerland) or via emergency radio (emergency channel 161.300 MHz). In order to be able to call out the nearest available helicopter, the Operations Centre requires various information.
Based on the location and the diagnosis, the Operations Centre alerts the nearest helicopter base. With rescue missions in mountainous regions, a specialist from the Swiss Alpine Club is called out; with traffic accidents, the police and the relevant ambulance service.

The kit is 1/32 Revell, out of the box build, my first, in well over 30 years ! Many lessons learned, and it has secured my enthusiasm for building model helo's.

At last I've finished my North Carolina Forest Service Huey!
This started out as the Italeri 1/48 scale UH-1D "Carabinieri". It was painted with model master paints and the decals are custom made by our very own HeavyArty (Gino). The little ground crew figure is part german pilot, part american air corps ground crew and is painted to resemble the actual photo I have of the aircraft and pilot. Thought I'd try something new and take these pictures on my front deck with real mountains as the back drop. Hope you like it, and as always, feel free to point out any mistakes. There are plenty to chose from.

I think your biggest mistake is trying to convince us that it's a model

The shots with the real mountains as backdrop look fantastic.

Keep up the good work

Didn't realize there was a seperate thread for the finished builds. Here's mine. Picked this little guy up at a garage sale for a mere .50 cents. Also grabbed a couple others while I was there. Strictly OOB. Dragon 1/72 Mi-28 with Model Master colors in a splinter pattern. Lots of masking tape and time with the painting. Total of approximately 18 hours or so start to finish over about three days. Thanks. "Q"

It's possible I might squeeze out another 1/72 entry. Have to wait and see how work is developing at the moment. Thanks for the kudos. "Q"

Hi guys,

Here's my first entry in my first Aeroscale GB.

It's the Italeri 1/48 AH-64D Longbow Apache modded to Republic of Singapore Air Force standards. She is aircraft 058 seen at the Asian Aerospace 2006 and flies with 120 Squadron based at Sembawang AB.

The HF antenna and laser countermeasure pods on the tailboom were scratch-built from wire and plastic card respectively.

Enjoy!

My 2nd and final entry for the Guardian Angel Campaign

US Army Lakota UH-145 / UH-72A

In June of 2006 the United States Army selected the Eurocopter EC-145 as its choice for a pre-existing off the shelf FAA certified helicopter to fufill the role of light duty utility helicopter, designating its version as the UH-72A Lakota. The UH-72A will be manufactured in the US at the American Eurocopter facility in Colombus, Mississippi. The first UH-72A was delivered to the US Army in December of 2006, and the initial units will be assigned to the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, CA. to relieve the UH-60 Blackhawks currently assigned there for aero-medical evacuation missions. The UH-72A is an unarmed helicopter optimized for routine air operations, to include civil support, air transport, medical evacuation, and search and rescue, in a permissive, non-hostile environment. Initial production is slated at 322 aircraft.

The Model
Is based on the Revell ADAC 1/32 model, with additional decals made on the pc.This is my 2nd plastic helo, and I feel I have improved my skills over my first model the Swiss Rega. Improvement with each model I build is my goal.
A certain amount of modellers "licence" has been used, as this Helo is so new to the US Army, there isn't a lot of reference material available.

I am happy with her, and the build was an enjoyable one

Mark great looking Apache, I like how the pre-shading and paint looks. Other than those two danger decals silvering she came out pretty well. Thanks for enlisting and completing your first Helicopter.

Over all the kit is great. The cockpit is fairly well detailed, but it loses it after that as far has interior detail goes. Definitly recommend AM interior. Aside from that the fit is great with some minor problems with the engine cowlings. The rotors are.. well large. They can be a bit tricky to handle and have minor seams and just a little putty ing to do but I can highly recommend this kit. its a great subject.

thanks

Hey Joe
Overall, I really enjoyed building this kit, however in areas I have to say that the instructions were a little bit complicated, for example the TOW missile launchers (which in the end I decided not to build). I would like to build another one but unfortunately my wallet wont let me!! Nick

i should read the small print on things a bit more! i'm posting my airfix apollo sea king up, thinking that tomorrow (1st november) is the end of this campaign, and its actually the other end of the month! had some grief with this one, the main thing being that the decals were badly yellowed, but this didn't show up until the next day after i had done one side, i then decaled the other side and cut away as much of the carrier film as i could, this made an improvement, but i still wasn't happy with it. i decided that for plan B i would get hold of an airfix gazelle kit and build that too, however it didn't arrive untill fairly late in the day so i probably wouldn't be able to finish it in time. however when one door closes another opens, at a recent model show there was a chap selling spare decal sheets, and as i looked through what he had i found he actually had three decal sheets from this kit all unused, so i was able to buy another, strip off the bad ones on my kit and replace them

and i now have a gazelle kit plus an etched set for it ready for the next helo campaign!

That looks very good Phil.

My one is stalled at the moment - maybe after Telford i'll finish it, but i think i'm gonna crash and burn on this.
