I have a question for all of those who attach the canopies of their aircraft before paint the camo but then remove it and pose it open.

What glue do you use to make removal after painting and weathering relatively easy?

TIA

Hi Darren,

I've just started using this product. It is like a real thick white glue and cleans up with water. I use it to hold parts on to test fit/paint.

Hi Darren.
I just use a tiny dab of white glue.Just enough to hold the canopy in place. To remove it after painting I just lift it off with a knife blade.
Hope his helps

Hi Darren

i agree with Nigel, In case you use acrylics, better lightly cut into the colour around the part you remove ... It would be bad to ruin a nice paint job by pulling off "a piece" of the paint .. been there ...

best wishes

Darren,
I left this message over on finescale for you, but I thought it might be worth posting here too...

I read a great article on hyperscale where the guy (David Aungst) uses blue tac for this purpose. It works great and helps make sure there are no little gaps for paint to sneak in. I have used this method ever since and love it. Below is the link to the article. Hope it helps you as much as it has me...

it depends a bit on the form of the canopy.

In many cases I use double-sided adhesive tape.

When not having double sided tape available i have also used tiny bits of tamiya self adhesive tape on the canopy and on the cockpit. a drop of white glue on the tamiya tape is then used to glue canopy to cockpit.

I also use maskol. This rubber type like fluid sticks enough to hold the canopy in place. Its also really easy to remove the canopy afterwards but the maskol itself can be a real pain to rub of.
