:-) This is my Revell 1/48 Heinkel 111, finished it today. Unfortuately the sun wasn't very bright in my studio, so these are the best pics. This, like most of the 32 models I had on the go when I first joined Armorama, back in September, has been partly completed for a long time. So this is another one to tick off the list.
This 111 was built OOB, painted with Xtracolour. Kit decals are not to bad but silvered a little in places. This is a nice kit, the only real problem was the positioning of the items in front of the radiator intakes, my guess is de-icing spray nozzles? the instructions are totally unclear. I finally found a picture today, which is why I was able to finish it. This is one of those annoying things that are never mentioned by any reviewer. I have very few references and it's annoying to think that reviewers seem to have loads and never mention this type of issue. Sorry rant over, heres the pics :-)
Comments/criticism welcome

Mal that looks good. I like these bombers and while not very knowledgeable on aircraft it looks good and I would have it on my shelf any day

Your models look so good, it kinda makes me not want to try and build one..lol
Seriously, I am extremely impressed with your modeling abilities and congrats on completing another FINE model.

Excellent work. I really like the paint job you did on this. The camo scheme is very good. I have one of these kits hiding in the basement somewhere. At least now I know what it's suppossed to look like. Great job.

Looks great Mal, I have allot of pictures of a He 111 that is owned by the AZ wing of the Confederate AF. Man, I really enjoyed walking through it and seeing how open the cockpit was. You really done a terrific job on this kit.

Holdfast.
I build strictly armor, so what do I know about aircraft, just about zilch. However I believe I know a fine modeling effort when I see one, and this Heinkel fills that bill.
Just beautiful paint work, pics are well done, clean crisp "glass" work, interior appears to be pretty complex from what I can see through the nose, realistic engine work (I can just about smell the exhaust), ---this is a nice model.
If you've there's an aircraft that I can build in OD, I just may try one. Thanks for the pics and the opportunity to comment.

Ok - It's 11:00 and I'm still Up - OK I'm old.
All I can say it - I built this same kit and you 'kicked it' You 'Nailed' it.. I'll comment with more clarity after the Black and Tan wears off.

The He 111 is one of my favorite bombers and I must say you have done it justice. I especially like the looks of the exhausts. What colours did you use for them?

:-) Thanks for the comments
Mike
The kit instructions aren't totally clear on the splinter pattern, If you would like a copy of the one I used just let me know :-)
Steve
This was the first time I attempted masking with Parafilm-M, I'm pleased with the results. The interior is quite complex and is as per kit even just painted the molded on seat belts. next time though I will use PE.
Nic
These exhaust were painted matt black then heavily dry brushed with rust. I have a better system for exhaysts now though, I paint them burnt iron, or gun metal, dry brush on rust, fairly heavily, from the exit point then lightly dry brush the open ends with oily steel. Inside is painted matt black. This will be seen on my, soon to be shown Messerschmitt Bf 110G-2 :-)

Mal,
Great job, especially the paint and finish. Always one of my favorite planes, you have captured the faded look and the clean lones of the aircraft well.

hi
first of all, i wanna say that it 's really nice. 4 years ago i bought that model also and i just wondered, when i fixed the wings i had a gap of more then 1 cm in total.
did you also noticed that fault or is it allready fixed in later releases ?
with kind regards

I had that problem when I built the kit years ago, Dmd. I think I also read some reviews that speak of it. Mine was packaged by Monogram so maybe Revell fixed it or something.

While I am not a fan of German aircraft, this looks really nice. The canopy looks excellent. Great job.

Bravo Mal!
I'm nont a plane expert but I like your Heinkel very much. Also decal silvering is not recognizable.

I wish I could build them that fast. The fact is that all these that I am finishing now, some of them anyway, are the 32 that I had started when I first joined Armorama, plus the the models I've started for group builds ie the 3 Amigos. Plus I'm out of work with time on my hands :-)
Roger
Actually yes. Typhoon, soon, Bf 110 almost, another Spit (Trop), Sea Fury Furiously finishing, 2nd of the 3 Amigos, give me a week, Helldiver hellish close to completion (you'll like that), Me 262 soon to be washed before being presentable and a Ju87 Trop. So yep a few in the pipeline :-) Just hope I don't find a job

Ahh the He111. Damn good job you've done on yours Mal. This plane kit seems to be a bit rare...maybe it's not as popular as it should be. Thanks to your pix I'll probably restart my search for this aircraft again. Good job
