Here is my latest finished build, took me about 3 weeks from start to finish.
Monograms, 1/48 F-101B Voodoo. Built OOB, well except for re scribing most of the panel lines. All of Monograms Century series jets have raised panel lines .
Went together pretty well, needed a few seams filled.
Sprayed with Xtracrylixs ADC grey (FS 16473) and the tail with Tamiya XF 8 Flat blue. Washed with W+N Payne's grey and coated with a satin finish.
Markings for 87th FIS, Lockbourne AFB, Ohio.
This will also be one of my entries in the MoQ.

Thats a great looking model andy, What did you use for the exhausts - I'm stalled on my Phantom for want of which paint to use in this area.

Thanks guys. I plan on building all the Century jets, so the F-102 is next on the list.
Once the primer stage is reached, my motivation really kicks in as I can see the finish line.
About 4hours a night.
The undercarriage surprisingly is fairly strong .
No trick here, its called Alclad II, lovely stuff.
From the back of the exhaust - Steel-jet exhaust-dark aluminum-jet exhaust. All sprayed in one sitting as Alclad drys in no time. It was then lightly over sprayed with burnt metal.
Very easy and effective, must be easy as I can do it :-).

Monogram's 102, from what I've read you'll need some skillful filler between the top & bottom fuselage halves. There was detailed article in Fine Scale Modeler several years ago about putting the X wing on it. If I can find the issue I can send it to you.

Hi Fred,
I have just did a quick dry-fit of the fuselage and wings of the F-102, and the fit surprisingly is near enough perfect.
This is the Revell boxing of the 102, i also have the F-105 (in a nice brown plastic colour :-) ), and the F-106. As far as I know they are all Monogram reboxings.
The only one that the fuselage is in 2 halves (bottom and top) is the F-100, and the fit on that is terrible. If the article is on the "Hun" it would be more then helpful, as I still have another F-100 to build.
I am completely with you on the early jets (except I didn't get to fly any ). They were built for speed and have beautiful clean lines, and mostly colourful markings.
Modern aircraft just don't do it for me, apart from a fully loaded F-16 and the A-10 ( a plane only a Mother could love :-) ).

I better clarify something--the only jets I flew were T-37s. Never got beyond that.
I bought the F-106 and am planning to start it ASAP. Sorry about the bad info, but I did find the F-102 article if interested. I have the Hun and heard it, too, has that bad fit.
