What's the best (i.e. most accurate) kit of the F-14D in 1/72? I can vaguely remember that Italeri made one - how good was that kit?

Hi ,

As I'm Tomcat Maniac , I could advice some best choice of buying - best in 1:72 scale F-14 D :
1st place - F-14 D from Fujimi ( suggest buying online from http://www.hlj.com - low prices )
- many parts , moveable wings , engraved panel lines , original "Gum" Tires , PE parts ( few) - price on HLJ about - 2200-2400 Yens = 20 $(aprox.)
2 nd place - F-14D from Hasegawa - hard to get ( I prefere Fujimi ) - price the same ( I think ?)
3 rd place - New Relase from Revell - F-14 D - Two Sets - One with book and nice decals from VF-213 With Lion Head on Fuselage - Low Price

Maybe it could helps in Shoping .
Best Regards

Aye aye! Thanks for the input! Fujimi Tomcats are available here - and cost quite a sum! But I checked out the detail and it was sweeeeeeeet. :-) I noticed that they have engines, too. However, the ones I saw were only As, and no Ds. Also saw two Hasegawa kits - I think one is the old one, not sure - VF-1 Wolfpack was the subject. I'm planning to build my Wacky Air Wing (to complement my Wacky Armored Division), starting off with Tomcat variants - A, B, D, and an IRIAF A. All in 1/72 (I easily get overwhelmed by 1/48 - plus I have a handy-dandy reference book on the Tomcat with drawings in 1/72) How do you rate the Italeri Cats? IIRC, I saw a D by Italeri. Online buying is ruled out.

Thanks for that warning! :-) I guess I'll just wait for that D from Fujimi.

None of the kits are accurate OOB.
However, they are all easily updated to F-14D specs.
