Hi all
I purchased the Tamiya 1:32 F-4J. I want to put some AM stuff on it. I have been thinking of a Black Box cockpit set and yellowhammer decals. Does anyone have some other idea? Is there a need to replace the boms/missiles? Are there any inaccuracies on the kit?
Regards,
Matthijs

Hi Matthijs,
I have found a couple of reviews you might find helpful.
Joe Szczygielski [ MOTHER ] wrote an inbox review and I found a build review Here .
Hope this helps.

It's a good kit but the black box cockpit is still a good idea. The sparrow missles are good just open up the exhausts and their good to go. The sidwinders are a bit off do some research to find out what version of the sidwinder you want. Cutting edge has whatever kind of sidwinder you need in 1/32. Also all of the raised panels on the airfram should be flush. Ive built the F-4D and J from the tamiya kits and and liked how they turned out.

Hello Mat,
I still have my kit, I did start it but shelved it for awhile. This F-4J kit is one of the best kit on the market, and expensive. Yes there are some aftermarket set out, here is what I have for mine…
Black Box set #CS32001 F-4J Phantom II, Eduard photo etched part #32041 F-4J Phantom II, Eduard photo etched part #32072 F-4E Phantom II interior set, Eduard photo etched part #32074 F-4E Phantom II Armament Set and Eduard photo etched part #32509 F-4 Phantom II Placards. They also have "Remove Before Flight" flags in 1/32. I think there a bit oversized, the 1/48th set looks to be the best to use. I'll make my own using Verlindens yellow aircraft dry transfers and foil.
Also there are a set of seamless suckers for the intakes, I will not be using them. I plan on scratching a set of FOD cover for it. There also are sets for the weapons load, off hand I can’t recall which ones. “Twobobs.net “ decals has a set of decals for the AIM-7 Sparrow and AIM9L/M/R/S Sidewinder Missiles.
There are many Phantastic sites out that cover reviews and articles one the Phantom. Here are a few….
Walkaround
Aftermarket
Build Articles scroll down to F-4, there are 5 pages.
Great Build with info
Theses are to just name a few…looking forward to see you Phantom started.
Happy Modeling,
Joe
