Hi all. As the titile of the topic suggests, my latest project which 'was' an F15-C from tamiya has gone a tad awry. Thanks to a whirlwond which is a stray cat getting into my house, said model is now wrecked thanks to a broken jar of cellulose thinners coming into contact with the big bird, results are not pretty. As a result I have now had to scrap this kit and have a glut of spare parts which i will donate to any members interested.
All weapons. AIM9 and AIM7
Undercarriage bits
Tyres
Clear sprue minus instrument panel
Kit decals
Astra decals Lakenheath set (will do any lakenheath 'hen;)
Eduard stencil data mask and Formation light set.
Anyone wishing to make use of these, contact me by pm or mail
[email protected]
As an aside, i'm now left with a dilema, I have a bunch of large scale kits to build and dont know which to do. Choices are thus far:- all 1/32 Academy F16CG/CJ with isra cast conversions and decals for a Block 30/40 Barak. Trumpy Mig29 OOB. Trumpy SU-27 with aires cockpit, wheel wells and exhausts, plus linden hill goodies. Tammy F14 OOB or the monster Airfix sea harrier with FA.2 conversion kit and whole host of resin bits from heritage and the wonderful set from flightpath to superdetail the bad boy.
Opinions welcome.

Hi Pete
That's awful! I think many of us will have had modelling disasters happen, but seldom on this sort of scale on such an expensive kit!
I really sympathise with you.

Dude, I want to cry and it's not even my kit!
What was the outcome of the cat? My family would have had to restrain me 'cause I would have "cat"apulted it Mel Brooke style!
My vote is on the Barak. I love those birds. Again, sorry about your loss. Bro.

The cat survived, am a cat lover and have two of my own so couldnt bring myself to do it harm.
Its all a bit soul destroying at the mo because id spent about 6 months on and off with the tub and was just starting to make progress on the fuselage and wing joints in prep for some paint. However i can't be too downbeat. A wise man once said S**t happens. Onwards and upwards to the next kit.

Pete,
Sorry for the loss, however please tell me you took photos! A disaster of such proportions must be shared.
As for which model next, I vote for the SU-27.

I could barely bring myself to look at it never mind take photos
Alas it has been consinged to the modelling heaven in the sky (wheelie bin) have kept the nose section and tub because if i ever decide to do one again................................... plus it was an expensive bit of the kit. BB cockpits aint the cheapest here in the UK.
I may dig the fuselage out and photograph it, depends how badly people wanna see the carnage a bit of cellulose thinners does.

sorry to hear about your kit. You show remarkable restraint, I'm a cat lover too but that would be pushing the boundaries...
My vote is for the Sea Harrier or the Tomcat, in that order. I've seen too many of the big F-16s and Su-27s recently.
Good luck either way, and I hope you've cat proofed the workshop...
Cheers

That's horrible Pete. I witnessed the adverse effects of lacquer thinner myself when I spilt a blob on my Eduard DH-2 wing; my mistake was trying to wipe it off! Anyway, kudos to you for responding so positively and offering the spare parts, I'm sure somebody can use them.
As for your next kit, if it was me, I'd go for a straightforward build after the F-15 incident. As OOB as possible, just to get something finished, so my suggestion is the Trumpeter MiG-29. But that SHAR does sound like a cool project

I have to say i'm kind of inclined to agree with the OOB build. The Sea Harrier is an awesome project lined up but given the work involved id like get something finished for once. I'll post some piccies of the SHAR stuff to show ya whats in the sets, the flightpath stuff in particular is a sight to behold. For PE lovers its divine, for the not so PE lovers it'd be the worst nightmare

Quick update.
After coming to terms with the loss of the Eagle, I have vowed not to build another F-15 again until i have finished the kits in the stash. I have spent too many hours building only for them to either get wrecked or for relatives to ask for 'em to decorate their office desks.
I have decided to do a fairly simple project next, It will be the F-16C Block 30 or 40 Barak. I will be adding a simple conversion from Isracast, Aires cockpit and wheel bay sets along with Isras' nice decal sheet.
On the subject of the old resin upgrades, am i alone in thinking that although the Aires sets are a lot cheaper than the Black Box, The detail is a lot crisper and easier to pick out.. I only ask as i have both manufacturers sets and have to say i prefer the Aires.
Anyway, i will be moving my progress over to the pre-flight forum with some piccies and a little inbox review of the resin goodies.
