Hi all,
I'm getting ready to spray my Kyushu Shinden using Testor's buff-able aluminum metalizer and have a few questions about the stuff.
1) Can I seal it with Future, or do I NEED to use the metalizer sealer?
2) Should I spray an under coat of flat black or other color for the finish to look proper?
3) Does it need to be thinned, or can it be sprayed as is?
Thanks!!
-Derek

1. Yes- after it has throughly dried, light mist coats of future should have little effect on it. You may find a color change after you buff it up, and spray the sealer on Either theirs or Future.
2. Not needed. Just remember the slightest flaw or scratches will magnify 100%.
3. No thinning, it's already like water, and you'll have to continue to keep it mixed as the pigment settle quickly. One of the few times I use a paint jar on my Badger 150. A few shakes and shimmies usually keeps it mixed well enough.

Thanks Dave,
I plan on getting the airbrush going today. I think I will spray a base coat to fill up scratches that were created sanding off the raised panel lines and then do the aluminum tomorrow.

Just remember that the Metalizer paints are laquer not enamel.

When spraying metalizers, wear a mask and have plenty of ventilation.
I know this from experience. I didn't wear a mask while spraying Alclad II on my F-86D Dog Sabre and my sinuses played up for days after, (actually feels like you broke your nose).
