I read somewhere that you can cover and airplane very carefully with tin foil and it is supposed to look like an aluminum skin.Has anyone had any luck with this?Does it work?

:-) Hi airwarrior,
I've seen the out come of this technique and it looks very good. It's not easy though, I've done a little experimenting and the results were promising. I'm planning on doing a P51 Mustang with kitchen foil and writing a feature. With everything else I'm involved with though it might take some time. For it to be succesful you require the cheapest household kitchen foil you can find (cheapest= thinnest) and, more importantly Micro Metal Foil Adhesive. There was a very very good artical in Fine Scale Modeler on the subject, July 2002. Like all writen articals though it leaves you with nearly as many questions as it answers. It is still a very good starting point. It's those unanswered questions that got me experimenting. You can also buy Bare Metal Foil, which is produced for the porpose of producing a metal finish.
There are other ways of replicating a natural metal finish (NMF) using special paints. There have been discussions on these subjects elsewhere in the forums. :-)
