Having seen a 1/32 scale one at a show at the weekend, and now seen how many are a vailable (in 1/48) i was wondering what everyones opinion was as to which was the best A-10 kit to build in 1/48 or is the trumpeter 1/32 worth the money.
thanks in advance

Hey Keith this will clear your questions up. I've built both Tamiya and Monograms A-10's...Monogram is the best. Now I haven't seen the new Italeri kit but have plans on gettting one soon.

Italeri A-10
Oh yeah, I also started a 1/32 scale A10...last year or so. It too is a great Kit, if you have the room I suggest getting one. You can find them cheap enough these days. The only thing is that it's cockpit need to be changed out. It's weak in detail. I bought the Verlinden PE resin set to update mine. I works well, only thing is that I had a ton of carving and sanding to do to the tub to fit in, other than that everything else fit well.

Use caution when purchasing a Revell-Monogram A-10 model. The Monogram kit was superior to the Revell kit before the merger. Now that they are Revell-Monogram, you have to insure the R-M kit you purchase is the true Monogram kit and not the old Revell kit.

G'day,
I've only built the 48 kits from Tamiya of his bird, the 32 Trumpeter kit has resin engines and a few fit problems, but builds into a neat subject.
The Revel AG A-10 Thunderbolt boxing is the older AMT tooling.
Hope tis helps.

Hi guys
And don't forget that HobbyBoss has new 1/48 scale versions ready or imminent - these could be great subjects for reviews...
All the best

Hai,
I think that in the meantime they have split up again.

I could be wrong but I have been led to believe there is a build review of the 1/48 Italeri kit by our own Sam (Camogirl) in the May edition of Scale Aviation Modeller International (out on Saturday in the UK).

No, Revell USA and Monogram are still Revell-Monogram. It is Revell AG that is no longer part of the parent group of Revell-Monogram.Quoted TextUse caution when purchasing a Revell-Monogram A-10 model. I post the warning in case someone sees a Revell (USA) A-10 on eBay or for sale/trade on the forums. Make sure it is the Revell-Monogram boxing and not the old Revell boxing to ensure you get the better Monogram kit.

You'll be in trouble if you are wrong.

I got a look at the Hobby Boss kits Weds night and they look like the 1/32 kit only shrunk in size. Recessed throughout, nice cockpit detail from what I could see through the baggie. The guy had both the single seat and the two seater on hand. I know they are going to go for a small mint, somewhere in the neighbor hood of $60-70...far too rich for my blood. I recently bought the Italeri offering. It looks ok, but has some shape problems with the engines and other places. This was gathered after just a brief look/comparison with my references, so don't blow a gasket just yet. I'm sure somebody has done a detailed look at it as of now, I just haven't as yet. If you can afford them, I'd say look at one of the Hobby Boss kits. They looked very nice. "Q"
ps. I still love the Monogram kits excellent cockpit detail. Great kit.
