Greetings all;
For a source on anything related to the frontline assigned, production Fokker Dr.I here is the finest source to date.
"OUR latest Special is destined to be a big hit with aero-enthusiasts the World over - and a sure-fire winner with scale modellers too! Greg’s 88 page book contains over 250 photos covering no less than 18 Jastas that operated the iconic Fokker Triplane over the Western Front in 1917 and 1918. The title also carries stunning all-new colour art by Ronny Bar, Robert Karr, Juanita Franzi and Bob Pearson, providing one of the richest collections of Dr.I imagery currently in print.
Greg traces the stories of the main Front-line Triplane units as well as giving a considered appraisal of the three pre-production F.Is. There are over 10 pages of unique colour art, providing multi-views that outline factory finish, stencil application and component numbering, a centre-spread of over two dozen profiles showing official Triplane Jasta markings, plus detailed three-views of eight selected Triplanes, the majority of which will be new to even the most seasoned Dr.I fan. Add to this, eight pages of brand-new, highly-detailed 1:32 scale plans by Marty Digmayer and you have a terrific Triplane reference package!. . ."

Interesting. I have the 1/28 scale Revell Fokker Dr.1 kit in my stash so I will keep this in mind when I get a chance to work on it. (Still wrestling with that Sopwith Camel at the moment, but there is light at the end of the tunnel now...)
One question, does this book include good data on the interior of the cockpit? I remember reading on another website about how one modeler scratchbuilt an entirely new cockpit for the Dr.1 and I want to try my hand at it myself.
Oh, and one more thing, do you know any good references on the interiors of SPAD 13s? I got a book from Squadron called SPAD Fighters in Action but it is rather sparse on those details. (I have an Eduard SPAD 13 1/72 scale in the stash too)

Check my website ( unashamed plug)
On the 1/28 scale Fokker Dr.I build the information in the Fokker Dr.I Jagdstaffeln book is very complete but the drawings ar in 1/32. The previous books on the subject from Windsock were all in 1/72 and 1/48. There are a few problems with the 1/28 kit.( its actually 1/27 according to the measurements.) I have a "how to text " on building the Revell kit. I'll be glad to provide it to any Aeroscale member "FREE" that contacts me through my website. Its just text but It will get you through the rough spots ( The interior faces are molded in reverse.) Our man Lars ( call sign " Repainted " ) is doing the 1/32 scale and his images here will be in valuable to you.
Also on my website (under the Spad tab) I have an article there on an actual Spad interior and identify all of the fixtures. I offer downloads or CDs.

In checking out the mechanical plan view drawings in this book Ray Rimell advises that the drawings can be studied by carefully bending up the staples and removing the center eight pages. The drawings are "unbroken and whole in 1/32 scale. Most impressive work by Martin Digmayer of the Czech republic.

Thanks, I checked out the build and it looks very good.
BTW, there is a local hobby shop where I live that has a ton of old Roden WW1 kits. They are mostly 1/72 scale though, if I remember correctly. Do you know if they are of good quality? I am tempted to buy them up.

Yes if you are a 72-scale builder go for them. They are not up to Eduard class, but close. So if you’re local having a sale…In this scale I have only a few, You see I’m old and my eyes isn’t what they use to be, so The bigger the better in my case.
Having chatted with Olga at Roden and she’s told me that the new Pfalz DIII (1/32) is coming in May. The distributor of Sweden is going to mail me when it’s in the country. What do I mean with this, If you can get hold of Rodens 32-scale kits ….GET THEM

Greetings all I have had an inquiry concerning the post war service of the Fok. Dr.I.
Greetings John,
There were only 320 Fok. Dr.I airframes built. One supposedly came to the US and may have been at McCook Field 1919 -1920. Since it was phased out before the end of the war there were none that survived except captured examples in France & Britain. While they did reports on the captured examples they did not survive beyond WWII either.
The Berlin aviation museum had 2. These were 528/17 & 152/17. Both were destroyed in 1945 supposedly. Fokker did build an example (from spare parts) post WWI for loan to Germany and it with 528/17 were used in at least 2 @ 1930's aviation films. There is an indication that one may have been used for sport flying but that is speculation based on an undated photo. Try Alex Imrie's book "The Fokker Triplane." It is out of print but a great source.
Regards Stephen

Do you have any information what happened to the DR.1 "s after the war ? Did the U.S. get any and bring them back or any of our allies use them in service ? Also do you know of any after market parts for the revell 1/28 ? I did find a wooden prop from Copper State . Any help you can send my way would be most helpful.

There some great photo refs for airframe & cockpit (restorations) details of several WWI aircraft on the "Memorial Flight Association" (which Google) website.
