Hi all,
I just picked up a couple old airfix kits at an antique store today. One is the 1/72 RAF Emergency Vehicle Set and the other is the 1/72 Bristol Beaufighter TF.X. Both are complete except for one thing I totally when brain dead about when looking at it. The Beaufighter kit is missing the assembly insructions
I was hoping I might find someone here at aeroscale that might have that same kit and be able to send me some scans of the instructions. Or if anyone knows if there is somewhere online I can find them.
If anyone can help out I would very much appreciate it. Reply here or PM me.

Also, I was looking into the history of Airfix just for the fun of it and I see these two kits were originally released in 1958 (beaufighter) and 1969 (emergency set). But they were also rereleased at later dates also. I can't find any dates on the boxes and was just wondering how I would figure out just when these were actually released.

Thanks for looking and good modeling,
Wayne

Hi Wayne?
do you still these? If so I've probably got some buried somewhere - I thought I'd make sure they were still needed before I wreck the place...

if they are british airfix, the styling of the box itself will give away roughly when your kits were released. if you can put up a pic of the boxesit should be easy enough to date the issue of your kits

Well! I found my instructions at the first attempt (a miracle) so if required I can pop 'em in the post.

Thank you very much everyone,
I apologize for not paying too much attention to my thread here for a short time.
I still do need the instructions. I will try getting them from Stacey's website first. But I will keep you in mind John for help if still needed later on.
You guys are great Thanks so much.
I will get around to scanning off the box fronts and see what you can tell me on them Phil. much appreciated also

Good modeling all,
Wayne

I now have all the instructions I need. I got them downloaded from Staceys website. Thank you Stacey and also John for your help and offer.
There is always someone here at Aeroscale with help for any kind of problem

Here is one scan of the Beaufighter box and I have to give credit to Stacey for this one. He had a scan of the box with the files I downloaded with the instruction files. I hope you don't mind without me asking first to post this here. If so I apologize.
My kit box looks exactly like this one.
I will get the emergency vehicles scanned and posted also a little later on.

Arthur Ward wrote a book, on "The History of Airfix." I haven't looked inside, but it might have the information that you're looking for.

Any time!

Are you going to build one of the options from the kit decals? If so, which one have you in mind?

John.

hi wayne, i found this info courtesy of the airfix tribute forum-
"Bristol Beaufighter TFX 1413/283/02003-5/02003
1/72 scale. Available from 1958 to 1979. Reissued from 1987 to 1991 and from 1997. Included in 08601 D-Day 60th Anniversary Gift Set in 2004. Also issued by Plasty (Germany) as kit series 1642 number 3 (1950s-1960s), by Airfix Corporation of America as kit number 7-49 (1963 to 1966) and by Airfix Craftmaster (USA) as kit number 1211 (1966 to 1969)."

your boxing is in whats known as a type 11 box, to my knowledge its the latest style of box airfix use, so your kit is a current release
*edit*- the beaufighter was also released in a "dogfight double" kit with a 109G in 1966

I have the old Revell 1/32 Gunbeau. I'd like to do it in RAF Coastal Command colours and add a Torpedo.

Does anybody have a close up or diagram of what the Torpedo mounting would look like? I'd be very appreciative if someone could help.

Sorry if this is hijacking the thread.

So far I am leaning toward doing the No. 236 squadron version. That looks like a neat scheme and I always have loved the looks of invasion stripes. Those are always fun.

Thanks for the info Phil. That is neat to know.
The box for the RAF emergency set says it is kit # 03304. Here is a quick scan of the boxtop.

off the top of my head i think that boxing is from the early 90's, and i just remembered that if you read all the smallprint on the sides there may be a copyright date that relates to the box artwork style, (as opposed to the actual kit)

*edit* airfix tribute forum to the rescue!-
RAF Emergency Set A204V/02304-5/9 02304/03304
1/76 scale. Available from 1969 to 1982. Reissued in Series 3 from 1990. Included in 10301 VE-Day Anniversary Set in 2005. Also issued by Plasty (Germany) as kit series 1653 number 21 (1960s).
yours is a type10 box from the 1990 onward re-issue

Wayne, you're more than welcome.

Maybe I should have shrunk the box scan a bit!

I bought the kit from Tower Hobbies within the last year, so the boxing is current.

Thanks to everyone here for your help And thanks Phil for the info on the kits
My airfix problem has officially been fixed with info and instructions. What more could a guy ask for

Murdo - keep an eye out for someone may still be able to help you with your quest for pics of the torpedo mounting. There may not be as many people that see your question here and you may have better luck if you go ahead and start a thread with your question. I am sure there will someone who can give you some help.

Good modeling everyone and thanks
Wayne
