Hi all:
This was my first entry in 1/72 scale for the Down Low Campaign:

Now Iīm working on my 2nd entry, another P 47D now in 1/48 scale. The kit is Academy, and the build will be OOB.

Here are some pics. Main assemble finished. Primer applied. The only part where I used some filler was in the wings to fus join.
The bird will be armed with 1.000 lb bombs and rocket launchers. The kit is good, with nice detail and a good overall fit. It will wear a scheme from the 56 th FG (Wolf Pack), the decals are Aero Master.

Thank you Steffen.
The last pic will be the little and the big P 47īs together
The diference in size between the two scales is incredible when you put the kits side by side and this is proportional to the amount of detail.
Regards

Hi Nigel:
Yes, lot of P 47 in this Campaign, we can build up a Sqn. and go straffing arround
This Academy kits are not bad. Just a little care when building and they look really well when finished, and best of all they are cheap ! I got three more in 1/48 and 6 more in 1/72 in my stash, so..... youīll see me building these kits for a while.

Hi all:
This is the decal set that I bought. Iīll be using the "Aircraft Nš 3 scheme.
The upper colours are Dark Green and Olive Drab, and the undersides NMF with Invasion Stripes, a little different that most P 47. I like it.

looking great Carlos!
weathering the invasion stripes?..you could give the whole model an oil wash of burnt umber, this will tone them down a bit as well.
Another way would be to overspray the whole model with a very thin mix of tamiya smoke. 90% thinners 10 % paint or even thinner

If you look closely on my P47 yuo'll see how the oil wash has taken the edge off the painted white stripes on the tail.At the weekend Im going to post shade with Tamiya Smoke and that will blend everything together even more before I matt varnish.
keep up the good work my friend

Hi Nigel:
Thank you for the kind words.
An oil wash is a good idea. Iīll apply an oil wash to the entire model an after all some chalk powder to simulate some dirt on the Invasion Stripes.
About the post shade youīre planning, were are you going to apply it ? over the entire model or over the panel lines only ?
Regards.
Carlos

Looks really nice Carlos. Are you going to do the chipping and over painted upper invasion stripes that the decal sheet talks about? I look forward to seeing how you do that and how it comes out if you do.
What primer do you use?
Thanks,
Allen

Hi Carlos.
I will do a post shade of smoke over the panel lines and then an even thinner mix over the whole model. Thats the plan anyway

Hi Carlos.
For thinning the Tamiya Acrylics I use Tamiya thinners, and I use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the airbrush.

Hi Allen:
Thank you.
I was checking all my regferences about the P 47 and the 56 FG and I couldnīt find any pic of a P47 with the upper invasion stripes overpainted in olive drab. So I decided to paint the overall upper surface in 042 Med Green FS 34092 (H 149). I donīt know yet what Iīll do with the cowling.

Sorry Allen, I forgot your answer.
For priming I use Mr. Surfacer 1200 (Spray Can).
