Hi Steve

There were 2 1/48 models of the Su-25. Revell Monogram did a model that was close to the prototype. OEZ (CZ) also made a model (better to say 2 a sigle seater and a two seater) AFAIK there was no Navy varient release, but I do not know if there was a conversion set. All models are pretty dated, but not bad. There is a NeOmega Cockpit for the OEZ and also an Eduard set.

Revell (Germany) did a boxing in the early 90ies, but I do not know which model is in this box. as they also re-released other OEZ models (Su-7BKL)

Ebay Link to RoG model (the seller says it is Monogram ... ?? ) ---- BTW try the euro branches of Evil bay for your hunt after the kit ..

My OEZ kit is started, but I screwed it (a little) and still did not have the courage to tackle it again ...

best wishes

Steffe

Hi Steve!

Some years ago I found the Academy 1/144 Su-25 in my LHS, I liked the clunky look of the aircraft so I bought the little kit on the spot.

I started looking for a 1/48 kit and I found a Kit made by KP/KOPRO, I guess It´s the same as OEM?

This was one of the toughest kits I have done!

Fuselage split in two halfes (as normal, eh), both intakes split in two halfes, wings split as normal in upper/lower halves.
Trying to align all these with no guiding pins/slots, everything was butt-joined, was very tricky and fiddly!

Detail are OK but the plastic is thick and hard to work with and with no guiding pins to help alignment.
Fit was quite mediocre so a lot of filling and sanding was needed.

Decals are so-so, work well and are in register, but all stencils are just small dashes and dots.

If you treat it as a short run kit and put in a lot of work and some elbowgrease you can turn it into a good model, much better then I managed to do!

As Steffen said, there´s a kit from Monogram too, wich I was lucky enough to find at a Model show this spring.
It was the RoG boxing, but inside I found the Monogram kit!
Better detail, better decals and It seems like an much easier build to me.
Go for this if you want a 1/48 Su-25.

I have never seen a Naval variant though.

Cheers!

Hi Stefan and Steve

Well, some more thoughts

@Stefan .. we're talking about Su-25 here, aren't we? ..

I read a little and according to my sources the OEZ kit is the better (regarding accuracy) and yes it was reboxed by Kopro ... so I would recommend this kit even if the Mono/Revell kit might look better. This kit can be bought for less than 10 Euro at evilbay occasionally .. just be patient

best wishes

Of course we are talking about Su-25!
Edited above text.
Thanks Steffen!

Yes, the KP/KOPRO/OEM kit is more accurate, but It´s not an easy build!

(Just my 2cents)

Cheers!

Yes, I hope we are still talking about the Suchoi. I'll look for both when I get off the boat. next week. I built the monogram one years ago, and was looking for that one but I'm also looking for the humpbacked K naval variant. But i'll check ebay. Thanks again guys.
