G'day,

This 48th Tamiya Vb kit was built some 12 years ago, with exception of the spinner, taken from a Hasegawa Mk Vb kit as this aircraft was originally a Mk II airframe, later converted to Mk V specs], for this subject I used the kit decal shet for he roundals and the old AeroMaster decal sheet [ 48-364], for the aircraft serial number / Squadron and aircraft codes along with the 'Boxing Eagle' artwork and married to the [just as old] AeroMaster 'Warbird' range of enamels. The upper Grey/Green cammo is applied freehand, after masking the lower surface with exception of the lower cowling, [which was painted as a seperate item, before fixing to the model].

The pilot of this Spitfire subject is Don Gentle [better known for his 'Shangri La' P 51b Mustang mount], when with 133 Eagle Squadron based at Biggin Hill, the 2 kills are for Fw 190's shot down over Dieppe, This aircraft in real life was alays kept in a pristine condition, as the aircraft was cleaned and repolished after every mission.

This particular Spitfire had been displayed in a shop and I have only just hed it returned.

This following [AeroMster decal instruction sheet], pic shows the P 47d Razor Back aircrat also flown by Don Gentle, of note in this is the difference between background colours and the stance of he Eagle, between the two aircraft subjects, [this particular aircraft subject is a future project, using the 48 scale Tamiya 47d Razor Back kit].
