Hi everybody, I have just joined this forum and I have decided to share with you my latest piece of work.
Unfortunately I haven't had the time (nor the patience ) to add a decoration for this model.

The model is made exactly as described in the boxart, half black, half duck egg, and I find this scheme quite interesting.

Well, as my personal touch I have decided tu put the red tissue patches on the machineguns, which in the weathering stage I decided that they look better punched and smoked, I have sprayed a matt cote which was previously mixed with some light grey and white (some of my homeforum mates say it should have been yellow instead of white) to give it the tarnished, used, exhausted warbird appearance and some worn out paint on the left wing...

In terms of extra detailing, the radiator aft was PE from the Eduard set, designed especially for Tamiya, some inside parts but since I don't make open-canopy models, that can't be seen.

As of defects it is full of them, in particular the rear part of the canopy, was rebuilt because I have managed to break the original one, the decals could be as well used as shopping bags (very thick) and no antena either

I would love to see your comments and please, be as cruel as you can

Hi Gabriel, welcome to Aeroscale
First of all It's a Spitfire and everyone knows that "you just can't have too many Spitfires"
Well overall it looks like you have done a very fine job The only suggestions that I would make are:
1. I believe that Tamiya have it wrong with the third machine gun, in each wing sticking out of the leading edge. I could be wrong here but I think that it was only very early (pre-production?) machines that had this. i removed them on mine.
2. This machine would have carried on antenna wire from the Tail to the triangular piece on the Aerial post (this was actually a pully), then into the fuselage, towards the rear of the fairing to which the aerial is mounted.
3. This aircraft would also have carried IFF wires (Identification, Friend or Foe) from the tips of the tail entering the fuselage at a position just above and behind the red centre spot of the roundel.

None of this is ment as criticism in any way, just information for the next time you build a Spitfire Mk 1. Mk Vs and above wouldn't have had the antenna wire nor the IFF wires, because they had a differnt radio fit

Nice to see another Spitfire here, please post more of your work

Thank you guys for your kind words. I cannot presume to compare myself with nobody here since I have more to learn (especially patience which is one asset that sometimes I miss) . I think this is the reason why I get in a hurry to finish the model and forget all the extra details. Anyway, on the 24th I will be in London and i will try to go to Hannants in London and to the RAF Hendon (for the second time he he) just to get some more pictures...

@Mal: Thanks for the tips. I am planning to build at least 2 other Spits, and maybe I will ask for some help if that's OK. I will try to upgrade this one with an extra red patch for the 3rd MG on each wing (after removing the balsted thing from its position) and i will add the wires (hopefully with some hair from my wife, presumably I will survive this endeavor).

@Carlos: Your collection of Spits is driving me crazy...Nice one too!!!

@Murdo: Thank you. I will try and do better next time.

They are the flash eliminators and only correct for very early Mk Is.

Gabriel,
Before attacking your wifes hair (nice idea I have used my daughters hair for antenna wires, in the past ) Take a look at my Spitfire Mk 1a build in the gallery HERE
If you need any help just ask away, everyone is very friendly and always willing to help if they can

Welcome to Aeroscale Gabriel.
Very nice job.
Ive got one of these in my stash and it could well be my first 1:48th build.
Id recommend Mals online build of this.It will be a great reference for my build.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Enjoy Hannants and the RAF museum.
