I hope that one of you guys can give me some advice for scratchbuilding buckles for seatbelts. I want to make them for my 1/32 scale Bf109.

Thanks for your help fellows.

Penny,
If you can find some square brass tubing that is close to the size you want your buckles to be............then wrap some small diameter wire around the tubing and then using a safety razor cut this into rings. Attach the square ring you just made to your harness and you have a buckle. It is a pretty generic looking buckle, but would probably suffice. Or you could check online for after market ones specifically for German A/C. Greatmodels.com might be a good place to start. HTH "Q"

Thanks Red,
I'll see what I can dig up and maybe I can get some of hubby's electronic wire to use.

Sounds like an awsome project. I can't wait to see it. I have recently seen somewhere that you can buy a bunch of buckles in that scale on a single sheet of PE brass. I don't know if you just want to make your own which I can understand, but if not it looked like one sheet had enough to make about 20 models. Let me know if that intrest you at all and I will see if I can find it again.

I guess that would be the easiest way to do it. That way if I do get another 1/32 scale plane, I'll already have what I need. Do you have a web site for it Drew?

If I recall I saw them in a local shop. I will run down there tommarow and see how much they are. If I recall it wasn't that much. I will keep you posted and make sure they are for 1/32 scale.

Hi Penny - " one of the W.W.II's greatest fighters" !
I usually make "ejector pull handles" for
modern day fighter with various small gauge wire
I buy at my local hardware store.
You can do the same for buckles. Just make sure
you get the correct gauge wire that will fit to your scale needs.
All's you really need after the wire is a good needle nose & flat nose
pliers to shape your buckles. Make sure you use an authentic photo
for reference.
Also Photo Etch accessories work well and give an authentic
look to detail to their real counterparts. Eduard Accessories will have what your
looking for if you decide to go this route. Here is their website

GOOD LUCK & HAPPY MODELING WITH YOUR FIGHTER.
If you need any further help you can email me for any info
you might need

Thanks Scream,
I'm not sure which route I'm gonna take. I think I may lean toward the PE. Thanks again for the info.

Hi scream,
I finally got some photo etch buckles and should start on the 109 within the next week or so. I really do thank you and the others for all your help. As soon as I get this F-16 and the 109 done, I'll post a couple of photos to show ya.
