introduction
In our last portion of this tour, we learned that the National Museum of the United States Air Force preserves and displays aircraft that have been significant to the history of military aviation. In our last installment of the tour, we looked at the beginnings of military aviation in the United States, and at the rapid technical development the US Army sponsored during the 1920s and 1930s. This week, we look at the time when the aerial forces of the United States military came of age and became an effective military force in their own right.
