Full title: Fokker Fodder: The Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c
Author: Paul R. Hare
ISBN: 978-1-78155-065-6
Format: 234 x 156 mm
Hardback, 160 pages, 150 black and white illustrations
The B.E.2c slogged on throughout the war, and its poor performance against German fighters, and the failure to improve or replace it, caused great controversy in Britain. One MP attacked the B.E.2c and the Royal Aircraft Factory in the House of Commons stating that RFC pilots were being ‘murdered than killed.’ This resulted in a judicial enquiry that cleared the factory and was partly instrumental in bringing about the creation of the Royal Air Force.
Full title: Goldfish Caterpillars & Guinea Pigs
Second World War Aircrew who experienced Life Saving Events
Author: Colin Pateman
ISBN: 978-1-78155-078-6
Format: 234 x 156mm
Hardback, 256pages, 110 illustrations
The RAF and Commonwealth air crews were bound by regulations and discipline during WWII. Survival was by no means a certainty, with casualties becoming a part of everyday life. The evolution of non-established clubs was recognised and regarded as an important area within RAF history that boosted moral. The regulations flexed to allow membership pins and badges to be worn on RAF and Commonwealth flying uniforms. This book allows the reader to experience a number of individual stories and understand the relevance of being a:
‘Goldfish’ (Lives saved by the use of personal life preservers and dinghies),
‘Caterpillar’ (Lives saved by parachutes) or:
‘Guinea Pig’ (Lives saved by pioneering surgery conducted by Archibald McIndoe at the Queen Victoria Hospital Sussex)
In many instances the accounts are recalled in great detail from the official records of medals and awards. True heroism and gallant deeds supported by original photographs create an easy to read book, revealing areas of interest not previously visited in this format.
Full title: Mustang - Thoroughbred Stallion of the Air
Author: Steve Pace
ISBN: 978-1-78155-051-9
Format: 275 x 210 mm,
Hardback, 224 pages, 200 illustrations (50 colour)
The book will be profusely illustrated with high quality mono and colour images, many of which have not been published before, and features beautifully drawn profiles and numerous appendices. It also features numerous first-hand accounts of the Mustang in battle during World War 2, the Korean War and other conflicts. The Mustang was employed by more than 55 nations during its military lifetime and this book is a definitive work on this fabulous war horse.
