Glen Coleman has sent us selection of photos of the first fully-built and painted example of Kitty Hawk's new P-39Q/N Airacobra. The kit is due for release this month.
Kit #32013 features markings for 5 aircraft. Artwork for the schemes can be seen HERE. Close examination of the painting instructions explains the bright blue undersides in these photos of "Snooks 2nd". I'd expect Neutral Gray to be much more likely.

Looks nice, but should be neutral grey for sure also I think someone's cut the control cables as both aileron's are dropped while the stick is straight. Seriously thinking on this one, although would have preferred an Italian aircraft with nose art.

Being an Aussie I'm aware a lot of P39s got shot down in the course of the Japanese attempt to invade PNG but were repelled. So the Snooks scheme is relevant and of interest. Turns out this aircraft had an interesting career. Some details here

The bottom color wasn't Azure Blue but Neutral Gray. The leading edges were indeed White. The issue is that the paint faded, got extremely dirty and grimy, and photographed in the shadow of the wing looks darker then it's original color. The topside color like almost every other P-39Q was painted a Greenish color over the factory shipped Brown. Again, through weathering, fading, the top layer of paint wearing off, the color gradually returned to Brown, but in a random pattern. Joel
