MPM NEW RELEASES 11/2006

MPM #48056 - 1/48 Fairey Fulmar Mk.I

This distinct WW2 Royal Navy fighter has never before been produced as injected kit in 1/48 scale. This month, MPM is releasing a high quality kit of this fighter. The two seater aircraft carried only fixed forward-firing armament, the observer-navigator was unarmed. The biggest handicap in combat with the enemy was its weight and size. Despite this, in 1940 the Fulmar became the most successful fighter serving with the Royal Navy. Fulmars fought over the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean against all three Axis Power's aircraft. The kit consists of 5 sprues with plastic parts and 1 sprue with clear parts. The kit is highly detailed. Decals offer three aircraft in different styles of markings, mapping the evolution of the Fulmar’s camouflage.

 MPM #48060 - 1/48 Heinkel He 177A-5 Greif „HI-TECH“

The Heinkel He 177 in 1/48 scale became one of MPM Productions’ Best Sellers. The basic version of this kit is almost sold out. Therefore, MPM have prepared a Hi-Tech version of this interesting subject. In addition to the plastic parts, the kit now contains resin and color photo-etched parts. It also contains externally carried weapons – two guided Hs 293 missiles.  Spray masks for canopies and wheel hubs are also provided. The canopy masks are for both inner and outer surfaces. Decals included are for two attractive machines: one operating from Denmark, the other from France.

Special Hobby #SH48045 - 1/48 Fairey Albacore Mk.I

The Albacore was the last biplane designed for service with the Royal Navy. The aircraft operated both from aircraft carriers and land bases. They fought over the Atlantic Ocean and over the Mediterranean Sea. The kit of this outstanding biplane consists of 4 sprues with grey plastic and 1 sprue with clear parts, several small pieces are made from resin and photo-etched parts. Decals offer three aircraft from the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy.

Special Hobby #SH48049 - 1/48 F2G Super Corsair

When the Kamikaze attacks first occurred, the Allies tried to find an effective defense against these attacks. One of the solutions was to design an extremely powerful fighter aircraft with excellent climbing ability and speed. One of these fighters was the F2G Super Corsair. Only 10 aircraft were produced before the end of WW2, most of them were sold to civilian users and became the stars of the post-war “pylon races”. The new F2G kit offers one fancy racer aircraft. The original aircraft has recently been refurbished.

Special Hobby #SH72133 - 1/72 F2A-2 Buffalo „Yellow Wing“

The F2A-2 was the first modern fighter monoplane on the deck of the US Navy aircraft carriers. The model in 1/72 scale has the identical colourful prewar anticamouflage as the successful 1/32 kit. It contains one frame of plactic parts, an injected canopy and PUR parts.

Excellent! Just when I start to see the end of my kit-buying spree. Now I HAVE to get the Albacore and Fulmar! But in all honesty, great news.

Hi David! This was the "couple" I was thinking of! :-) Jean-Luc [/quote] Hi Jean-Luc LOL! Only a "couple"! I'll be after the Super Corsair too! And if I hadn't already bought the standard version of the He 177... Reading your News item, it's not strictly true to say the Fulmar carried no rear "armament"; I remember reading how some observers tried to fend off attackers by throwing toilette rolls into the slipsteam! I wonder if they'll be included in the kit?! All the best Rowan
