The wait is almost over! Roden look set to have WW1 fans queuing to buy what looks to be one of the most exciting releases of 2007... a 1/32 scale SE5A.
A large-scale SE5A has been high on modellers' wants lists for years and, after the success of their 1/72 and 1/48 scale versions, it was logical for Roden to make the leap up to 1/32 scale. The new model will include markings for 5 aircraft:
1. S.E.5A, E1295/A, No 74 Sqn RAF, Major Edward “Mick” Mannock, (73 victories), Northern France, July 1918.
2. S.E.5A, C1904/Z, No 85 Sqn RAF, flown by Billie Bishop, (72 victories), Summer 1918, France.
3. RAF SE5a (with Wolseley Viper), N1149 (or C1149?) “Schweinhund”, No.56 Sqn RAF, flown Captain Duncan Grinnell-Milne (Sqn CO), late 1918.
4. S.E.5A, D6856, No 84 Sqn RAF, Capt. A. Beauchamp-Proctor (54 victories), 1918.
5. RAF SE5a (with Wolseley Viper), F.8005, 25th Aero Squadron, USAS, late 1918.
The kit is due very soon, with a projected price of 42 Euros.
