With the launch of the Rotary Wing forum, it seems fitting to bring you news of several helicopter releases.

Item No 11643 Marine One Presidential helicopter £11.99p
This is the copter that travels with the President of the United States and transports him from Air Force One to his destination. It is called Marine One only when the President is aboard and features the Presidential seal and distinctive markings.

United States troops around the world know this aircraft as an “angel of mercy” as it transports the wounded quickly to medical treatment.

Item No 72136 HUP-1"Retriever" £9.99p
The HUP-1 "Retriever" was a tandem-rotor, single-engine rescue and utility helicopter built by Piasecki Helicopter Corp., predecessor to Vertol Aircraft Corp., which was purchased by Boeing in March 1960.
Item No 72137 HUP-2/3 £9.99p
The HUP-2 entered service with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps in 1949. Variants with the Navy included 12 HUP-2S submarine-hunting aircraft with dunking sonar equipment and a HUP-2 with a sealed, watertight hull and outrigger twin floats, for waterborne tests.

In 1951, the U.S. Air Force, on behalf of the U.S. Army, ordered a version of the HUP-2 with a reinforced cabin floor and hydraulically boosted controls, for general support and evacuation work. Seventy of these were delivered as H-25A Army Mules, for ambulance and light cargo duties.

This helicopter in the mid-1950s, made a reputation for itself as being one of the first transport helicopters that could carry a sizable load. This was partly due to its great lifting power. But the S-55 also had a big cabin, capable of stowing large loads or many passengers.
