AZTECMODELS is a Mexican based company who produce some fascinating subjects in 1/48th scale. Colorful is the key word for this company's products.
In the May issue of EUROMODELISMO appears in the review section, the lists of the new releases from AZTEC MODEL The new releases, which come in both 48th and 72nd scale, cover the following subjects:
48-021 & 72-021 is titled AMAZONIA MIRAGES and its subject, not surprisingly, are Mirage IIIs... What makes this sheet different however, is the fact they are for aircraft of the Brazilian Airforce. The subject of this extraordinary sheet, is the 30th anniversary of the Mirage in Brazilian service. When I say colorful, it is not a term lightly used.
48-023 & 72-023 comes under the title VENIMOUS VIPERS. Once again, the subject is Latin-American aviation, this time the spotlight switches to F-16 'Vipers' of the Venezuelan Airforce carrying the special 20th Anniversary paint-scheme of no. 16 Squadron, Fuerzas Aereas Venezolana.
48-024 & 72-024 are a little less extravagant in their subjects, though no less interesting in theme. The subject this time is for an olive-drab P47D of 63rd FS/ 56 FG based in England in 1942, and a natural-metal finish P47N based in Le Shima in 1945. What sets these apart are the two 'Vargas' Girls painted on the nose of the two subjects.
The set is available under the title: REALISTIC PIN-UP JUGS. 'Jugs' in case anyone was in any doubt, was the nickname given to the P47 by their pilots and ground-crew.
A final point worth mentioning, is that AZTEC claim to have improved the quality of reproduction on their decal sheets, giving more detail and higher definition. More details of this improved process, can be found at Aztec's website where payment details, and prices can also be found.
