Background
Airfix’s 1/72nd Folland Gnat T.1 is a new tooled kit, which Tim Hatton reviewed here, has replaced the original release that has been doing the rounds since 1964. Pavla have released a vac form canopy for the newer release.
In the bag
The clear bag holds 1 vac form canopy. The canopy is blemish free and thinner then the kit offering.
The Airfix canopy although pretty clear does have a little distortion due to the thickness of the plastic, so Pavla’s replacement does alleviate that problem.
The vac form canopy is in one piece and will need to be cut out of the moulding, and trimmed to size, which will need to be done with care as only one canopy is supplied.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
SUMMARY
Highs: Nice and clear canopy
Lows: Only one supplied
Verdict: If you are detailing the cockpit of this lovely little kit, then Pavla’s canopy will really show off the work that has been done.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
