I open the box and what do I find? 6 crisply molded sprues, one of them an additional clear fuselage sprue. Nose-weights (no tail sitters this time)- Semi-transparent decals that are darker to allow for light passing through them, with options for 4 different aircraft. And lastly Easy to-the-point instructions. The kit is up to Tamiya's usual standards with good detail and inscribed panel lines.
The Clear Idea
An excellent idea for a clear fuselage, because you dont have to remove the rear half of it to see the engine! Although, here is where the only visible pre-construction fault lies. Due to the parts being clear, you can see the injection marks, which is a shame because in every other aspect the kit is great. You may be able to reduce their obviousness by using a hobby knife to scrape off the protuding flash from the inside of the parts. Overall it is and excellent kit and worthy of anyone's time.
SUMMARY
The old Tamiya kit with clear fuselage to see the excellent VK-1 engine.
