With Revell of Germany having released their 1/32nd scale Focke Wulf FW 190 F-8 ‘Schlacter’ it has not taken Eduard long to release a whole slew of aftermarket offerings for the model. I have five upgrade sets for the Revell of Germany kit from Eduard covering a photo etched set for the interior, a photo etched set of landing flaps, a set of flexible masks for the canopy, a resin and photo etched set for the MG131 mounts and their cowling and finally a resin and photo etched cockpit, all of these items are specifically for the Revell of Germany offering.

The mask is supplied in plastic hanger bag with a card stiffener inside to product the mask. In addition to the mask there is of course a thorough application instruction sheet.
Review
I know what you're likely thinking here, your thinking why buy a mask when I can just use Tamiya tape to do the same thing at a fraction of the cost. Well it may surprise some of you that as you get older your eyes do make it hard to see clearly and so products of this type do come in handy. Also of course there are people who are not comfortable with masking canopies and taking a sharp blade to the clear parts when trimming.
This mask from Eduard does make life easier for the modeller and while it does still require hand and eye coordination it will be easier than working with a sharp knife on a clear canopy. I like that Eduard has included masks for both canopy types included with the kit. The supplied instructions are clear and so easy to follow in my opinion, another nice inclusion with this product are masks for the tail wheel, something I was not expecting.
Conclusion
This is one of those products that depends on your ability rather than something that improves the model itself. If you are good at cutting masks on your models or you have a very steady hand, well then this product is not for you. For every other modeller who wants to have a head start for masking your model this is a product worth considering at a price.
SUMMARY
Highs: I believe this is the easiest way to add masks for painting models.Lows: Cost is always a consideration with a product of this type.Verdict: The product does what it is designed for and its value depends on your own abilities.
