The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 is a perennially popular modelling subject, and few companies are better placed to tackle it than Eagle Editions with their acclaimed library of references. Their latest foray into the field sees the release of two new sheets of EagleCals for the Fw 190F ground-attack fighter. The decals are available in 3 popular scales and are custom-printed by Cartograf.
Eagle Editions have kindly provided a sample of Sheet EC#165, and the Cartograf decals are of their usual impeccably high standard, with items which are thin and glossy, printed in perfect register with minimal carrier film.
The sheet covers the following aircraft:
1. Fw 190F-8, W.Nr. unknown, “Black 5”, III. Gruppe, Luftflotte 4, Frankfurt am Main, 1945
2. Fw 190F-9, W.Nr. unknown, “Black 2”, Luftflotte 4
3. Fw 190F-8, W.Nr. 588717, “Green 3”, St. II./SG 2, Milovice, Czechoslovakia, 1945
4. Fw 190F-8, W.Nr. unknown, “Red 2”, Luftflotte 4
The chosen schemes offer a nice variety of camouflage styles and individual markings. Along with the unit codes etc. for each aircraft, the decals sufficient national markings for two models and a comprehensive selection of stencil markings. In a nod to political correctness, the swastikas are printed in two parts - which seems somewhat ironic as the profiles show them in full.
A nice touch is that Eagle Editions have included items to depict the roughly overpainted markings on a couple of the aircraft, so you have RLM 76 and RLM 82 chevrons if you prefer not to paint them.
The decals are accompanied by a double-sided instruction sheet that features top quality side profiles of each subject by Tom Tullis, top and bottom schematics and stencil placement guides and, all importantly, concise and clear notes on the details of each scheme and any special points such as repairs that are evident.
The prices for the sheet depends on the scale:
EC#165-32 - $21.50
EC#165-48 - $16.50
EC#165-72 - $12.50
Conclusion
This is another excellent release from Eagle Editions that is sure to be popular with Wurger fans everywhere. Recommended.
