De Havilland’s Mossie is never far from the modelling limelight, and the recent release by HK and Tamiya of superb 1:32 kits of the bomber and fighter variants respectively has provided a fresh reason for aftermarket producers to visit this iconic subject. Eagle Editions have a new series of EagleCal sheets to cater for both variants, not just in 1:32, but in 1:48 and 1:72 as well.
EC#167 covers the Mosquito B.Mk.IV / PR.Mk.IV and includes the following 5 schemes:
1. LY-G, s/n DK310, No. 1 PRU
2. GB-N, s/n DK337, 105 Squadron
3. AZ-Q, s/n DZ415, 627 Squadron
4. HS-F, s/n DK333, 109 Squadron
5. AZ-B, s/n KB195, 627 Squadron
The decals are custom printed by Cartograf, so you are pretty much guaranteed superb quality. On the two sample sheets, all the registration is perfect, and the colours look excellent on the thin, glossy items.
Steve Deisley has provided high quality colour profiles for each set of instructions, which also include top and bottom views and stencil placement guides. There are useful descriptions provided for each of the chosen aircraft, along with notes of the references used.
The prices vary according the scale:
1:32 - $21.50
1:48 - $16.50
1:72 - $12.50
Conclusion
Eagle Editions’ new range of Mosquito decals should prove a huge success, offering a very good selection of interesting schemes as alternatives to the many kits available of this iconic aircraft. Recommended.
