History
Incendiary bomb cluster M36 consists of a cluster adapter M30 filled with 182 incendiary bombs M126, and is fitted with a burster, a fin assembly, two fuzes, and an arming wire. The cluster is approximately 90 inches long, 16 inches in diameter, and weighs approximately 900 pounds.
This type was used in Vietnam by the US forces.

In the box
Packed in Eduard's standard Brassin packaging the M36 Cluster bombs are securely sandwiched in-between the outer wrapping and the back with some foam backing.
The set comprises four resin parts and one small sheet of photo etch. A set of instructions and a small decal sheet finish of the contents.

The resin bombs are well cast with no imperfections in the resin, and the fins are very thin. A small amount of detail in the form of some very fine recessed lines are adorning the body, and two prominent mounting lugs are on the top of the bombs.
Each bomb is connected to the casting block at the fin end, so care will be needed removing them. A sharp scalpel blade should be enough to free the bombs from the casting block.

The photo etch sheet holds parts for the rear of the bombs, with the rear of the bomb getting a blanking plate, and the two scoops on the rear bomb body getting some airscrews fitted.

Instructions and decals

The instruction sheet folds out to a postcard size sheet with the part placement shown on one page, with the build (as much as there is to it) over three stages. The instructions even show how the bombs should be attached to the TER (not supplied, but can be bought separately - Brassin No 648232).
The front of the sheet has the stencil decal marking guide. The main body colour is given with Aqueous and Mr Color paint numbers.
The small decal sheet has the stencils for each bomb. The decals are well printed, in register and look to be quite legible.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
