The four turned brass Hispano cannons and single pitot tube are well packed inside a sealed clear pouch and again in a press close plastic bag. There is no padding, but the stiff card will protect the delicate looking pitot tube. The brass items themselves are superbly created, the cannon barrels are drilled out and amazingly so is the pitot tube. The instructions may look minimal, but they have the all-important information about setting the barrels into the wing. For the holes for the brass parts you will need a 1.8mm drill for the barrels and a 0.8mm drill for the pitot. Being metal these accessories will require cyanoacrylate glue. There is a note in the instructions stating that the pitot tube is not suitable for the Hawker Tempest Mk.V.
Conclusions
The quality and consistency of the parts is superb. Once installed into the leading edge of the wing, there will be very little to be seen of the barrels. But it’s the little details like this that help to create a showstopper.
