The plusmodel Ladder for an F-104 Starfighter the box is a small lightweight box with pull out top and bottom. The artwork is a small but colourful picture of an F-104 with a ladder on the side of it.
The back of the box has a diagram instruction on how to build it.
1. Grey sprue that contains the parts of the ladder
Review
It looks a basic build as I start out! I have not for a long time come across something so basic that seems too difficult. First off, some of the parts on the sprue were quite delicate and needed the care to be cut off. I switched from the Xuron cutters to the pair I got from Brevco modelling while I was at Telford for the internationals who had given me some new cutters that are one blade cut. It manages a straight cut without any bend on the plastic, and much needed for this particular kit.
I looked at the instructions and decided to start by placing parts on one side of the rail this included the footsteps the supporting bars and spreader supports. Once dry I then started to fit the opposite rail, it is at this point that the problems started to arise trying to get them symmetrical, now at this point, I realise that my podgy fingers may not have helped my cause! Eventually, after several tries, I managed to get things as straight and looking right.
Once built it is a nice looking accessory and will look good with any 1/48th scale F-104 Starfighter
Conclusion
At first, I thought this was going to be a breeze, then comes frustration and not a lot of building, once I had regained my composure the build became quite easy then, you are left with trying to get it all straight. Once all this is done then it really does look a great addition.
SUMMARY
Highs: Finishing the kit comes to mind, once built it is actually a great addition to a dioramaLows: Some parts are delicate and would be easy to break while cutting from the sprue, frustrating if like me you have chubby fingers.Verdict: A very nice accessory that will help in anyone’s build of a cold war fighter diorama
