Introduction
Two sets of interior sets are available for Kinetics two seat Harrier, the first Zoom set just covers the cockpit, with the instrument panels and rudder pedals replaced, the second set which we build review here, contains much more, including updates for the seats, instrument panels, rudder pedals, HUDs, and parts for the canopies.

In the bag
Packed in the now standard sealed bag, with a cardboard insert, the contents contain the one or two frets (depending on which set you get), one pre coloured and the other plain, a small film for the HUD's (only in the bigger set) and a set of instructions.
Both sets have one coloured fret, which holds the instrument panels, side console panels, throttle and nozzle levers, and a few parts for the cockpit sidewalls.
The set numbered 49 882 also has a plain metal fret which holds the parts for the ejection seats, a large side wall part and parts for the canopies.
The build
The first parts replaced are the tops of the seat which has moulded on detail, which isn't bad, but the Eduard set just adds that little bit more depth and detail.
New foot rests for the rudder pedals attach straight to the kits parts and do look more detailed, but you really wont see much once the cockpit is built up and the fuselage closed up.
Most of the coloured fret is taken up with the instrument panels.
Two are supplied and are slightly different, so make sure you put the right one in the right cockpit. Each panel is made up of two main parts and are glued to the kits panel, which must be sanded down to remove the moulded on detail.
The detail is a lot better then I could paint, as the kits panels require painting as no decals are supplied for these parts.
Side consoles require the same sanding off of the moulded on detail for attaching the P.E parts. Two levers per side console are attached, which are a little tricky as the gluing area is so small.
New HUDs are provided which replace the rather bulky kits offering, with a plastic film replacing the thick clear plastic screens.
Several parts replace the moulded on detail for the side walls, which does slightly improve the look.
Last up for the interior is replacement parts for the canopies, which include mirrors and a rear part for the co-pilots canopy. A hand hold for the co-pilots canopy, replaces the smaller Kinetic P,E part.
Also a new front windscreen wiper is supplied which replaces the moulded on part. This part looks very tricky to do as you have to remove the moulded on wiper from the clear plastic windscreen, as of writing this review I'm still debating whether to do this or not lol.
The final part is a new weather vane for the front of the nose which replaces the thicker kit part.

Instructions
The instructions are printed in a black and white line drawing and are well drawn and easy to follow, with the kit parts to be removed highlighted in red and parts that are replaced in a numbered box. The instructions are easy to follow even if you have never attempted photo etch before.
As with all the latest Eduard sets and kits the instructions can be found on the product page on Eduard's website.

Harrier T.4/ T.8 Zoom
If you don't fancy the full interior or don't feel its important then Eduard produce a smaller Zoom set that just covers the instrument panels and rudder pedals.

SUMMARY
Highs: Pretty easy to build and worth the update for the instrument panels alone.
Lows: Surgery is required mainly in the form of removing moulded on detail.
Verdict: Two very nice sets that improve the interior of the Harrier, especially the instrument panels. Depending on how much you want to improve the kit depends on which interior set you want, as the larger set does add more detail to some quite prominent areas.

About Andy Brazier (betheyn)

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
