RAF Pilot Sitting in Cockpit with Monkey on Shoulder and two Mechanics, Western Desert

The Set

CMK has released three RAF figures including a monkey that I’m presuming is the Squadron mascot. The figures are designed for Special Hobby’s 1/72 scale Kittyhawk kit, but I would have thought they could be used for any RAF station based in the western desert. Amongst the three human figures is a complete pilot that looks as if he designed to be sitting in a cockpit. The other two figures are aircraft men; one arm is moulded separately and can be attached in whatever position you like. They are all dressed for the desert, and are sporting rolled up sleeves. One aircraft man is standing and the other is kneeling. The figures all come on a moulding block and each has a small area of resin that can be used as a stand. Alternatively you could remove the stand and glue the figures in place. The monkey has a chimpanzee look about it, except it’s got a long tail. The monkey does not have a stand and is designed to sit on the pilots shoulder. Care is needed handling the figures as it very easy to break off the arms as the film holding them to the casting block is very thin.
The figures themselves look nicely cast and once the fine film of resin is removed ready for painting. Although it is always a good idea to wash anything made of resin in warm soapy water. There is no guidance about painting so you need to consult some references. The small piece of paper that comes with this release has an image of the suggested positioning of the figures.

Conclusions

This looks like a good resin set of figures if you fancy creating a vignette for your Special Hobby P-40 Kittyhawk in the western desert. Figures look good and it should be too difficult removing them from the casting blocks. You just need to find some suitable references for colours.
