HISTORY

The RWD 8 was designed in response to a Polish Air Force requirement in 1931 for a basic trainer aircraft. It was designed by the RWD team of Stanisław Rogalski, Stanisław Wigura and Jerzy Drzewiecki. The first prototype (registration SP-AKL), was flown in early 1933. It won the contest for the new Polish military trainer, against the PZL-5bis and Bartel BM-4h biplanes. It was considered a very stable and well-handling aircraft. ~wikipedia~

THE KIT

In just a few steps you can have something really cool looking to put on your shelf. While the cockpit is lacking detail IBG Models have made the outside look quite good with rivets, radiator features, support members and nice wheels. You can even bend the flaps to give some animation to your model. There's zero flash and the details are crisp and look to scale. The wind screens are very clear and perfectly shaped.

INSTRUCTIONS and MARKINGS

Two pages and you're ready for decals and weathering. The full color instructions are IBG Models typical excellence and for the price of the kit I was pleased with the number of marking options. Two Hungarian, three Romanian and one unknown are included. The decals are fantastic yet I'm still scratching my head as to the extra card marked "SP-BHX" since there's no reference to this in the instructions or on the box. None the less, there are instrument gauges and some stencils that will add a nice touch to the end result.

CONCLUSION

For under $8 bucks you can't go wrong for the fun factor. Great markings, great decals and great detail that should easily go together as a weekend project.

Special thanks to IBG Models for sending the sample to review and when you're shopping for this kit please mention you saw a review on KitMaker Network Aeroscale. Thanks and happy modeling.
