Barracuda Studios have released a series of resin wheels to replace the styrene parts in Eduard's new-tool Tempest and offer alternative styles to cater for the different types fitted to the full-sized aircraft during its career.
Each set comprises a pair of slightly "weighted" wheels (the casting block attachment point doubles as a subtle flat spot to depict the bulk of the Tempest) and three different styles are available:
BR48402 Hawker Tempest Series I Mainwheels
BR48403 Hawker Tempest Late Mainwheels - Smooth
BR48404 Hawker Tempest Late Mainwheels - Block Tread
Each type of wheel boasts some simply superbly delicate detail, whether it's the crisply defined treads on the late-type tyres, or the interior fittings inside the hubs and makers' logos on the tyre sidewalls on all three.
Fitting the wheels should be simplicity itself - it will just be a question of ensuring that the mounting holes are deep enough to accept the kit's axles.
The items are available now direct from

Conclusion
Barracuda Studios' Tempest wheels are beautifully produced, not only offering extra detail over the kit parts, but also an additional type with the treaded tyres. Their ease of use makes them an ideal resin upgrade for newcomers to the medium.
