There are two pre-painted resin parts that replace the plastic, pre-coloured photo etched and decals of Eduards Fw 190A-3 main instrument panel. The two resin parts of the instrument panel are attached to the casting block via several thin stems. There are three additional smaller pre-painted pieces of resin that forms the centre console. In this case R5 is used as this matches the look of this part in the Fw 190A-3 kit. The other parts R3 and R4 must be for other versions. A little puzzling at first, but it makes sense having the plastic kits instructions to hand.
The quality of the paintwork on the instrument faces and switches is very good. When you look very closely there is still that slight unevenness on the surface of the painted area. But you do have to look very closely to see this. I have been unfair taking such close up images, but you can see the quality of the finish is very good. The instrument panel is also a lot more three dimensional looking compared to the rather flat looking photo etched equivalent. You may want to use the PE parts of the kit for the levers and handles that are a feature of the instrument panel.
The pre-coloured seat harness is a welcome addition. Its made up from six parts and some folding is required.
Conclusions
The new LööK range of instruments seems to be a step forward, particularly for those that loathe photo etched parts. We have become accustomed to Eduards pre-coloured photo etched instrument panels and although they seemed a quantum leap when the first appeared, they do require great care when attaching. The LööK range simplifies the process significantly with impressive results.
SUMMARY
Highs: A lot easy to install than photo etched instrument panels and will transform the cockpit area. Inclusion of the harness
Lows: Instructions don’t mention which part is relevant to the Fw 190A-3Verdict: If you want a good looking pre-painted instrument panel that is straight forward to install, then the LööK range will suite you nicely. Highly recommended
