The SUU-14 dispenser was used during the Vietnam War to deliver CBU's (Cluster bomb units).
The SUU-14/A was a submunition dispenser, which consisted of six separate 70 mm (2.75 in) tubes, which were held together by a central strongback. The submunitions were pushed out of the rear by pistons in the front end of each tube. The SUU-14/A could only be used by low-speed aircraft.
The SUU-14( )/A was used for the following cluster bombs:
CBU-14/A (BLU-3/B in SUU-14/A)
CBU-14A/A (BLU-3/B in SUU-14A/A)
CBU-22/A (72 BLU-17/B in SUU-14/A)
CBU-22A/A (72 BLU-17/B in SUU-14A/A)
CBU-25/A (132 BLU-24/B in SUU-14/A)
CBU-25A/A (132 BLU-24/B in SUU-14A/A)
CBU-57/A (132 BLU-69/B in SUU-14A/A) Some info from www.designation-systems.net
In the box
Eduard by the looks of things have changed the boxes of thier Brassin range of weapons. They used to be in a plastic blister pack, but are now in a top opening cardboard box. Enviromentally this is a good thing as there will be less plastic waste.
So once in the top opening box, you will find two re-sealable bags, one contains eight resin parts, with the other holding a small photo etch fret and a small set of decals. The instruction sheet is found underneath the bags.
The dispensor tubes are connected to a pour block at one end, and are well cast in a dark grey resin. Removing the parts looks to be very easy with only a scalpel needed. The ends are hollowed out to give the impression of the tubes. Each tube has a light grey "end cap" to attach and all four parts are connected to one pour block. A photo etch ring which fits over each of the four "end caps".
Four dispensers are supplied and each one is made up of two resin parts and one P.E part. Assembly is very straightforward.
Decals and instructions
The instructions are easy to follow with the build taking place over two steps.
Bold letters for the resin and P.E parts are clearly shown.
Colours are given along the way for the smaller parts with the main body having a colour insert for the painting and decal guide.
As per usual for Eduard, Gunze Aqueous and Mr Color paints are keyed to the colours to be used.
The decals are printed by Eduard and are of good quality. The decals cover the stencils data found on the dispensers.
Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.

I started modelling in the 70's with my Dad building Airfix aircraft kits. The memory of my Dad and I building and painting a Avro Lancaster on the kitchen table will always be with me. I then found a friend who enjoyed building models, and between us I think we built the entire range of 1/72 Airfi...
