Introduction
Eduard have recently released thier 1/72nd MiG-21PFM, which was reviewed
here, and whilst the kit out of the box is very nicely detailed,
Eduard always release a Brassin set to take it to the next level. One of the parts that get the Brassin treatment is the exhaust.
In the box
Packed in the new black Brassin carboard top opening box, the exhaust parts are sealed in a re-sealable bag with the photo etch fret in a separate bag. The instructions sit in the bottom of the box.
The casting is flawless with no signs of bubbles or discrepencies in the resin mouldings.
Each resin part is connected to a casting block and will need to be removed. Where to cut is easy to see, but as most of the parts are fully connected to the casting block, a razor saw will be needed, along with some sanding to level things up.
The exhaust nozzle set is made up of three resin parts and three photo etch pieces, plus one spare for the smallest part.
Detail is stunning for the nozzle, and a lot more refined then the plastic offering.
The main exhaust tube is one part, compared to the kits two part tube. The tube has detail inside it and is a lot more refined then the kits plastic offering.
The exhaust fan fits onto a second rear tube, which slots onto the main tube.
The photo etch parts are for the exhaust fan and are made up of three parts, which slot onto the rear part of the tube.
Some bending needs to be done to P.E part, which does look a little tricky to get done. Using some sort of homemade jig is probably the way to go.
Once assembled the whole exhaust tube slots into the back of the MiG as a straight replacement for the plastic parts.
Instructions
The instructions are printed on a A5 size sheet that is folded in half.
The instructions are easy to follow, with only three steps in the build sequnce.
Paint numbers are supplied for the Mr Metal, Gunze Sangyo Aqueous Hobby colour and MR Color range of paints.
