I was recently sent an item for review that is different from the normal item seen here. This offering is a puzzle, a puzzle why would you cover a puzzle here? Well these puzzles from Bellica cover military subjects and offer subjects from Land, Sea and Air and are in the style of military artworks. Once completed these offerings can be put in a frame and hung on the wall of your model room or as a backdrop to a model if preferred, the choice is yours.
Review
These puzzles arrive in a robust tray and lid with the artwork displayed on the front, I will say that despite the best efforts of the company the mail service still managed to dent the box through the packaging of both boxes. With that said the internal packaging prevented excessive damage to the look of the product as a whole.
The puzzle is packed in a sealed plastic bag and so there is no risk of missing pieces. The image on this offering is a black and white offering, which while visually appealing does make this puzzle a challenge. The paper with the image on it carries the image well and is securely attached to the backing, always a plus. The backing itself is a stiff card that is very robust and will avoid the issue of parts bending found in cheaper puzzles.
Putting the pieces together is a challenge due to the black and white nature of this image, but I like that the pieces lock positively together and look right once correctly placed. I am sure we have all tackled a puzzle where the parts are loose and leave you guessing as to if a piece is in the right place or not, well that issue does not rear its head in this offering. I found this puzzle such a challenge due to the black and white image that it is sat on a board in a location I regularly pass and I add a few pieces on each pass, or I at least try to add a few pieces.
Conclusion
If you like this type of artwork and are looking for a diversion while waiting for paint or glue to set than I can highly recommend looking at one of these puzzle offerings from Bellica. They are not an easy puzzle to do where the black and white offerings are concerned, but I suspect the colour offering are easier to tackle. The real positives of this puzzle is the quality of the backing and the secure lock between parts that results in a pleasing finish.
