REVIEW FOCUS
With this review I hope to illustrate that building Luft 46 models need not be expensive and maybe tempt some of you to give it a try without a huge outlay or wallet damage. Most Luft 46 models are not exactly cheap, mainly being short-run, limited edition affairs of both injection and resin types, aimed at a specific market. However it is refreshing to see this manufacturer offering kits of this type at such low prices even though it is a simple and basic kit.
PM MODELS
This Istanbul based company was founded in 1982, by Mehmet C. Sekercioglu. They have a reasonable range covering British, Russian, American and German Luft 46 aircraft from WW2 to Modern.  |  |
BACKGROUND
In answer to the RLM’s Emergency Fighter request the Messerschmitt Project Bureau began work in 1944/5* on a series of jet aircraft, one of which was the P.1111. The tailless design was to incorporate swept wings at 45 degrees in a near delta shape with a swept single vertical fin and rudder. The cockpit was to be pressurised with an ejection seat.
The design featured intakes in the leading edge wing roots to feed the proposed 2,866 pounds thrust Heinkel-Hirth 109-011 turbojet engine. Armament was to be four nose mounted MK108 30mm cannon.
A top speed of 618mph and a range of over 900 miles was estimated. Nothing came of the design due to the end of the war.

THE KIT
Type: Injection.
Parts:17
Very few parts in total, moulded in medium soft grey plastic. All parts ok with good detailing on bigger parts. The panel lines are well defined. Smaller parts are as good as most medium priced injection kits.
The fuselage and wings come as two complete pieces, top and bottom, with deep matrix detail in all wheel wells. Room for anti-tail sitting weights is good.
I built one a couple of years ago OOB and had no great problems in any area.
CLEAR PARTS
One good injection canopy that is both thin and clear.
DECALS
Decals supplied by PM are not usually very good and these are no exception. It is the one drawback to PM models. These are particularly bad and not worth a picture, but as they are so basic (total of 2 swastikas in four parts, 2 Black and 2 White wing crosses) a raid on the spares box will fix this.
INSTRUCTIONS

VALUE
This is a very basic kit but quality generally is quite good and it is also very cheap at GBP3.65.
Of course if PM where to make them more complicated and increase the number of parts, the price would increase. So as they are, they are very good value.
CONCLUSIONS
When one considers the price, this is a very good kit, making a very inexpensive base for extra detailing. And as its so cheap, it would make a perfect introduction to inexperienced modellers for learning and developing their modelling skills. And for experienced modellers, as it’s so simple, it offers great scope for improvement and detailing.
