The Sikorsky SH-60/MH-60 Seahawk (or Sea Hawk) is a twin turbo-shaft engine, multi-mission United States Navy helicopter based on the airframe of the United States Army UH-60 Black Hawk and a member of the Sikorsky S-70 family. The most significant modification is a hinged tail to reduce its footprint aboard ships.
The U.S. Navy uses the H-60 airframe under the model designations SH-60B, SH-60F, HH-60H, MH-60R, and MH-60S. Able to deploy aboard any air-capable frigate, destroyer, cruiser, fast combat support ship, amphibious assault ship, or aircraft carrier, the Seahawk can handle antisubmarine warfare (ASW), undersea warfare (USW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), naval special warfare (NSW) insertion, search and rescue (SAR), combat search and rescue (CSAR), vertical replenishment (VERTREP), and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC). All Navy H-60s carry a rescue hoist for SAR/CSAR missions. **

The kit
Hey, great things come in small packages and this 1/144 scale kit is no different. Essentially this is the same kit as the other Dragon offerings of the H-60 that have been produced for several years now. Although similar to the USAF variant, the kit does feature things that are found only on the NAVY version. This is one of the more simple kits with all of two sprues; one of those being the clear parts.
The kit includes two full kits with appropriate decals for each. Panel lines are recessed and given the scale don’t appear to be too severe. The nose section and the doors are molded in clear plastic to ease in painting of those particular parts. Overall parts count is low, and made even lower as some of the smaller ones are not used on this particular variant. Coupled with the fact that there are no external stores, pylons or other doo-dads hanging from the craft, this thing is a breeze to assemble and get to the paint shop. One of the parts that is used, is the nicely detailed cabin floor with seats including molded in lap belts and a center console with a few knobs and switches present.
Painting & Decals
Construction takes place over all of four steps with paint call outs being in Gunze or Model Master Paint lines. The tail color for the HSC-23 helicopter listed as H326 is not listed on the paint chart. However, with a little on-line research I found it to be listed simply as Blue under the Gunze line, and as FS15044 under Model Master. Both are dark blue in appearance so take your pick. Markings are included for the two aircraft featured on the box art; one from HSC-21 “Black Jacks” and the other being HSC-23 “Wild Cards”. The decals are by Cartograph and are extremely well done. With the colorfully painted tails and vibrant decals it is sure to be a striking looking pair of helicopters when complete.
