Introduction
Werner Wings just announced a new walk around CD. Their latest photo reference CD covers a very nice selection of the long bodied Hueys. The CD contains 31 folders totaling 3.91 GB. of hundreds of large images in high resolution color photos. Broken down into individual files, each folder is titled to include the model and serial number of the Huey.

Long Bodied Huey

Bell’s UH-1D/H Hueys were made famous during the Vietnam war. Carrying up to 12 to 14 passengers they became the Army's primary combat transport and medevac helicopter. The Huey was replaced when the Army decided to adopt the Sikorsky "UH-60" Black Hawk into service in 1979.

The UH-1D featured a Lycoming T53-L-11 engine. The “D” model was up-graded to the UH-1H, which was generally similar, but was fitted with the more powerful T53-L-13 engine. The Hueys were kept up to date with new avionics, improved composite rotor blades, countermeasures equipment such as chaff-flare dispensers and infrared jammers.

The UH-1V (conversion of the UH-1H Huey) was often referred as the “DustOff” a dedicated “MEDEVAC” a medical evacuation helicopter.

The DustOff helicopter is operated by a crew of four, Pilot, Co-Pilot, Crew Chief and an (EMT) Emergency Medical Technician. It is configured to transport three litter patients and four ambulatory patients and additional medical equipment. The UH-1V carriers no external weapons and is clearly identified by it’s large red cross.

The UH-1N "Twin Huey" as it is referred is the US Navy and Marine Corps primary battle helicopter. It provides reconnaissance and communications support to Marine ground troops. Over the years the “N” model developed a number of upgrades including improved avionics, defenses, and a FLIR turret. It is operated by a pilot, co-pilot and flight engineer.

The CD
I was quite impressed with the selection of reference material found in each of the folders, most of which you won't find available in any book or on-line.

Designed for the modeler, it’s packed full of great detailed shots taken in various locations through out the Huey.

The Hueys listed in this CD:
- YUH-1D: Prototype
- UH-1D
- UH-1H
- UH-1N
- UH-1V
- UH-1Y
- HH-1H

Also included are shots of the cockpit, doors, armament, engines and even the skids just to name a few.

The CD comes in a standard clear jewel case with a cover sheet insert. Another nice feature is that the label is burned into the CD.

All of the photographs were taken Ray Wilhite (Rotorwash) a regular on Aircraft Resource Center and it was his idea of putting together the CD with the help of Floyd Werner.

Be sure to add this title into your reference library as I recommend it highly. It will also come handy when building your next Huey model.
