Made to enhance the level of detail of the venerable 1:48 scale Revell/Monogram kit, Eduard's B-24J Front Interior set comes in the usual plastic pouch of the Czech Manufacturer. The set is composed of two PE frets (one is pre-painted) which are protected by two cardboard sheets to prevent them from damage. A small A5 size construction notice is included as well. The set is destined to the forward section of the fuselage: the front turret and the bomb aimer's position.
The pre-painted fret is composed of 26 parts which are mostly instrument consoles and instrument faces which will greatly enhance the level of detail on the inner fuselage sidewalls. The color printing on the PE fret is excellent and crisp with every detail of the instruments dials perfectly visible.
The second fret is much bigger and comprises 30 parts which will replace the lesser detailed plastic parts which will have to be removed as per instructions. Provided are a new forward floor, some more side consoles and boxes, new gun barrels and extra pieces to detail the bombsight and the front of the turret, including a window made of acetate.
The instructions are printed in black & white on an A5 sheet. The construction drawings are easy to follow.
Conclusion
If you have the old Revell/Monogram B-24J in your stash, this set, along the others destined to the model, will give you the opportunity to greatly enhance the level of detail of the basic kit. It is nice to see that Eduard are doing photo etched upgrade sets for older models as these really benefit a lot from the inclusion of the new metal parts. Other references are available for the same variant and we can only hope that the B-24D will also get the full PE treatment in the future.
