Our current Bf 109 campaign has provided an ideal excuse to dip back into Eagle Editions' extensive back catalogue of Luftwaffe markings, and they've kindly provided a set of EagleCals for my build.
EC#26 provides full decals for a quartet of Bf 109G-10s and is available in both 1:48 and 1:72, priced $11 and $9 respectively.
The thin and glossy decals are beautifully custom-printed by Microscale, with pin-sharp registration and minimal crystal clear carrier film. Along with the national and unit markings, there's a plentiful supply of stencils, sufficient for one aircraft with items to spare.
Each scheme is illustrated with a full-colour profile of the port side, and a smaller plan view. Backing these up is a full-page stencil placement guide with "generic" Bf 109G diagrams.
EagleCals always stand out for the quality of their research, hardly surprising considering their almost unrivalled library of Luftwaffe data. In this case, three of the aircraft feature in EagleFiles #3, while the fourth appears in #2. Each scheme here is described concisely, noting the likely colours, dimensions of the national markings, and any particular points of interest or modifications that will be needed to depict the aircraft.
Conclusion
EC#26 is a classic set of decals that's sure to appeal to Luftwaffe modellers. It's hard to believe it's already ten years since it first appeared, perhaps the only giveaway being that it's not also available in 1:32 as is common with the latest Eagle editions releases. Recommended.
Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.
