RB-T023 Micro Saws are a smaller version of RB Productions' original Contour Saws (reviewed
HERE), intended for finer cutting of (primarily) styrene and resin. The set contains six etched blades that are designed to fit any standard Xacto-style modelling tool handle.
The blades arrive attached to an etched fret, and it's just a few minutes' work to remove them and prepare them for use. While it's probably not essential to clean off the fret attachments, I still think it's worth doing - they are fairly sharp, and a few swipes with a file will potentially save a needless accident later.
The blades fall into three groups:
2 x curved saws - these can be run along a straight edge or around a gentle curve
2 x tapered saws - for piercing cuts, working out from a pre-drilled hole
2 x straight saws - for long straight cuts
All of the blades feature "Japanese" style teeth. That is, they are designed to cut on the back stroke as you pull the saw towards you. This allows a fine degree of control, but I actually found the teeth are so sharp that you can cut soft material like styrene on the forward stroke as well.
Conclusion
Once again Radu Brinzan has designed a very useful set of tools. These aren't all the type of blades that you will need every day, but you will inevitably hit situations when only "the right tool for the job" will do, and the beauty of the RB Productions range is that the individual sets are very affordable, so you can collect a range of specialist tools for every task. Recommended.
