Air Magazine a bi-monthly publication arrived recently in the post and although it is for July/August it's been worth the wait. This is my first look at this particular magazine and I have to say I am very, very impressed.

The Loire – Nieuport L.N.10. The French flying boat that flew between 1939 to 1940. The chapter tells the story of this magnificent flying boat, that could stay on patrol for 15 hours, with crew beds in the floats With many black and white and colour photos of superb quality. There are also many cutaway and a extensive number of scale drawings [1/100] as well as colour profiles. The photographic views of the interior are excellent. Anyone know if a model of this aircraft exists? If it does this would be a fantastic accompaniment to building it.
Pinchas Ben-Porat A biography of this extraordinary Israel pilot.
13th International Display of Flying boats/Seaplanes. A report and photographs of the Festival at Biscarrosse, France, for any fixed or rotary winged aircraft to do with water that attended.
The Douglas F3D Skynight. [Part two]. Continuing the magazines look at this trail blazing aircraft from Douglas originally designed as a night fighter. The second part looks at it's role during Vietnam War and the Cuba Crisis as a electronics warfare platform. Many cutaway, cockpit and scale drawings [1/84]. There are numerous photos including a walk around of the F3D at the Flying leathernecks Museum at Miramar. The chapter also includes colour profiles, very useful resource if you are planning to build this mighty fighter.
Breda Ba.88 Lince.The chapter tells the story of this attractive twin engined fighter, with many black and white photos of superb quality. Photos include shots of natural finish aircraft in the Breda factory, dorsal gun position, bomb bay, cockpit and the aircraft on operational duty. There are scale drawings [1/72], including the single engined prototype as well the variations of the engine cowls, as well as colour profiles. A must read if you are planning to build the MPM kit.

Conclusions.

As you probably will gather I like this magazine a lot. I can understand a little French, but to be honest just having a visual reference of the illustrations and photo's makes this magazine a worth while purchase. The quality and the smell of the print [I used to be a printer] is magnificent. I will certainly be taking out a subscription for this magazine. If you have the chance of acquiring a copy take it.
