Bf-109F masks
It is almost 7 months since the Zvezda Bf-109F-2 kit has been reviewed here on Aeroscale by Jean-Luc Formery. It seems it is a very popular model on the market so I find it hard to believe there are not many aftermarket sets dedicated to the Zvezda product. Is it so good? Unfortunately not, there are still few things that can be done better or easier while building, just like painting the canopy.
A few days ago I was given the set of painting masks dedicated for Zvezda model. The producer of the masks is a Model-World company from Poland.
The set enables us to paint the frames of any version of the windscreen and canopy provided by Zvezda.
This also includes an early E-1/E-3 type of canopy with rounded corners. The set of Model-World masks contains a pair of each mask: one for painting exterior frames and one for interior ones.
In the set we can also find the masking discs for painting wheels: separately for rims and tires.
Masks are described in the small instruction sheet: parts marked as „A” are used for painting wheels, „B” for interior and „C” for exterior of the canopy.
Masking film is very thin and soft. It sticks well to the surface but Modelworld advise to weaken the glue a bit before placing the masks on the model, just in case...It refers of course only to the previously painted parts.
All texts in the set are in Polish but I hope it will not be difficult for any modeller to find out how and where, each mask should be placed.
A big “Thank You” to Model-World for providing the review sample.
